The Small family

Mr. Small and family, who are repeat annual visitors to Anguilla for the past eleven years, have donated to children and organisations for six consecutive years, Patricia Bygrave, Coordinator of the programme said at the presentation. She noted that in the first two years gifts were donated to children in the Blowing Point community, and from 2007 the donations had been extended to children from all over the island.
Miss Bygrave said that this year the Small family, instead of selecting six students from each primary school, had raised the number to twelve. In addition to the gifts, the children received a monetary donation towards an ongoing fund-raising project at their schools.
The recipients of cheques totaling US$25,000 were the Anguilla Community Foundation, the Comprehensive Learning Centre, Klassique Dance Academy and the Performing Arts and the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Parliamentary Secretary, Tourism, Haydn Hughes, commended Mr. Small and his family for their generosity. He stressed the importance of sharing and caring and took the opportunity to extend season’s greetings to everyone.
Viceroy’s General Manager, Jeff David, spoke specifically to the children, telling them how good deeds could help them move forward and make a difference in life. He reminded them they were the future of Anguilla and were fortunate to belong to the greatest island in the Caribbean.
Mr. Small expressed delight to be back in Anguilla again and acknowledged that his wife, Robin, was the inspiration of the gift presentations. He spoke about their love for the island and was pleased that Elan, one of their five sons, a pre-med student, had spent five weeks this summer at the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he enjoyed the attachment.
Acting CEO of the Health Authority, Ralph Hodge, was grateful for the donation to the Hospital and said everything was being done to provide good health services to the people of Anguilla. He also expressed thanks to Viceroy and was pleased with the ambience of the property and its contribution to the island.
