Letters To The Editor - HAS VICEROY REALLY BEEN SOLD?

The Editor,
The Anguillian

Dear Sir:

HAS VICEROY REALLY BEEN SOLD?

The Parliamentary Secretary, and not so much the Chief Minister, made the announcement, some two weeks ago, that Viceroy Hotel had been sold and this dominated the national news in the local media.

I am now hearing, from various sources, that Viceroy has in fact NOT been sold and, as a consequence, no Alien Landholding Licence has been issued to any new owner or developer.

I suggest that the media should go back to the Chief Minister’s press conference and get some clarification on the matter. Much was said about Starwood Capital’s interest in the project, the company’s proposals for the further development of the property and the money and jobs that will flow from the new ownership and the work to be carried out.

Please enlighten your readers with more information including the approval of Executive Council and the issuance of a new Alien Landholding Licence.
