Local cricketers who were in Miami

They have expressed gratitude to the management of Viceroy Anguilla for affording them the opportunity to be accommodated at Viceroy Miami which sponsored eight rooms for their stay. They are also grateful to Viceroy Anguilla for their travel shirts which were essential for their unified appearance.
The local cricketers, whose tickets were partly paid for by themselves and by funds which were raised, said they were also thankful to the International Cricket Club for inviting and hosting them and for the competiveness of its players during the matches. The only regret was that the matches were rained out before a result could be declared.
At the first match the Anguilla Police & Prison Team won the toss and during the 25-over match scored 170 for 6. The main scorers were Terry Adams 76 not out; John Jeffers 38; Jovarni Gumbs 18 and Eversley Browne 17. Neville Browne picked up 3 - 27 from 4 overs; R. Macloud 2 - 21 from 3 overs and Bismaught 1-10 from 1 over.
In response the International Club scored 37 for 3. Ryan Brown, 13, was the only batsman to score double figures. Eversley picked up 1 - 20 from 4 overs and Terry Adams 2 - 16 from 3 overs. They were the only two bowlers before the rain came down and stopped the match.
The next day, when the second match was played, the International Club batted in a 30-overs match. After 8 overs, that club was 73 without loss. There were fine bowling spells by Neville Hamilton who pulled back the innings with 4 - 11 from 6 overs. He was supported by John Mullington who captured 2 - 19 from 4 overs. M. Johnson batted brilliantly for his 67 with six 6s and five 4s. His partner, A. Ahrushd, made 15 runs. After 19 overs the International Club scored 129 for 6 before the match was rained out.
“We appreciate the competitiveness displayed by the International Club and are looking forward to finishing our business with them,” the Anguilla Police and Prison Cricket Team stated.
