Ms Colleen Harrigan, the daughter of Florence and Colonel Harrigan of Long Ground, Anguilla, proudly walked across the stage of the Madison Square Garden Theatre in New York on Friday, 11 June 2010 in what she described as the most memorable day of her life. She graduated Summa cum Laude (With Highest Honours) obtaining her Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Hospitality Management with a concentration in Marketing.

Ms Harrigan began her studies at Monroe College in New Rochelle, New York in September 2008 and has been the recipient of the President’s List Honours for Superior Academic Performance every semester.
When asked what advice she would give to students at the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School, Ms Harrigan had this to say: “Set your goals and then work hard to achieve them. I urge sixth formers to take their studies seriously as credits can be gained for sixth form work covered. Also, where there are summer programmes at the College/University of your choice, make use of these as this will assist in advancing your completion date.”’
Ms Harrigan says the programme was very demanding but through hard work and a determination to succeed coupled with a sense of personal fulfillment allowed her to perform to her full potential. She is presently completing an Internship at the Radisson Hotel in New York.
She would like to thank the Almighty for giving her the strength to complete this degree. Thanks also to her family, friends and teachers for their encouragement. A special thanks to her mother for her overwhelming sacrificial love and support and to the Government of Anguilla for its contribution.
Ms Harrigan has gained admittance to the Masters Program in Hospitality Management at the Florida International University. She is hoping that she will get the necessary funding to enable her to start graduate studies in the not too distant future.
