CONCERN OVER GASTROENTERITIS

Health sector officials in Anguilla remain concerned about the increasing number of cases of gastroenteritis in recent weeks.

Children and adults have fallen ill with vomiting, diarrhoea and/or fever sometimes accompanied by respiratory symptoms.
According to Director of Health Services, Dr. Franklin Lloyd, ‘initial lab reports have not identified any specific infective germ. He pointed out that treatment for this illness can readily be obtained at the community health centres. More importantly he reminded members of the general public to wash their hands thoroughly prior to food preparation, to wash all fruits and vegetables and to cook meats adequately to prevent infection by contaminated foods.
