ANGUILLA REPRESENTED AT BIT TOURISM FAIR IN ITALY

The 23rd Edition of the Borza Internationale del Turismo (BIT) is scheduled to take place in Milan, Italy, from February 15th to 18th, 2003. Attending from Anguilla will be Marketing and Research Officer, Ms. Ernie T. Hodge, who left the island to attend the four day event. Also attending from the private sector will be representatives from Cocoloba Resort, Cap Juluca Hotel and Carimar Beach Club.

BIT, generally regarded as the biggest tourism fair in Italy, and one of the most important in Europe, brings together over 140 countries, 850 Exhibitors, 54,000 Trade Operators and 56,000 consumers for a series of events, seminars, workshops and promotional opportunities involving the Italian and International tourism industry. It has become a point of reference for professionals throughout the world and is seen as an important forum to discuss the exchange of ideas and to analyse the industry in terms of new projects, solutions and business activity.

Over the four-day event Ms Hodge will take the opportunity to meet with Tour Operators and Travel Agents already selling the destination, and to hold discussions with those interested in adding the island to their 2004 programme. Meetings will also be held with members of the Italian Press, while the two consumer days are expected to generate a significant number of contacts for the island’s database.

Arrangements for Ms. Hodge’s trip were coordinated by the Anguilla Tourist Board, with assistance with air travel from Air France out of St. Martin.
