The Unstoppable Volleyball Force Collided With The Immovable Volleyball Object

The Anguilla Development Board Volleyball Business League continued with some mesmerizing games on the 2nd and 3rd October. Friday’s entrée was a warm dish of Sports Department entertaining team Statistics. Captain Ian Connor and team Sports played the role of gracious hosts as they served heaping dishes of peppery serves and hot spikes.

At the initial stages of the game, Janai Gumbs and team Statistics tried feverishly to consume anything that came their way. Unfortunately, it was too much too soon. With every fleeting point, Statistics dropped further and further behind. As pressure mounted on the young Statistics team their errors and discontent skyrocketed. Team Sports was able to win the game two sets to love.
The main course of the evening featured two unbeatens, as the unstoppable force known as MICUH collided with the immovable object known as Construction. This collision produced massive sound waves that rocked the volleyball court. In the first set both teams stood toe to toe as they traded points, none giving an inch to the other. Team Construction tried battering MICUH into submission through the efforts of Sherwin “Skywalker” Richardson and Javelle ‘Special” Brooks, however MICUH rose to the challenge on each occasion. Andre “half man, half amazing” Samuel, was a one man blocking machine as he blocked Sherwin “Skywalker” Richardson and Javelle ‘Special” Brooks at will and with utter disdain. Unfortunately, MICUH’s plan of winning the first set vanished as the experienced Sherwin “Skywalker” Richardson, Randy "Swaggart” Thompson and the Marsha twins, made pivotal points to clinch the set.
Realizing this, Rawle Hazell and his band of engineers devised a new scheme. In this new plot, Eldon “Nodel” Webster and Andre “half man, half amazing” Samuel were made the main points of attack. The new plan worked to perfection as both spikers pillaged the porous blocking of Construction. Ludiann “Ludi” Richardson bolstered her MICUH teammates with some aggressive hitting and good bumping. The extra effort resulted in a much deserved win. With both teams having secured one set, an all out war erupted. As the third set started the slamming was merciless, the bumping was precise, and the blocking was excellent. Both teams pounded each other like there was no tomorrow, but the more experienced Construction prevailed as winners with a score of 2 sets to one.
On Saturday, the Teachers played Police in an interesting match. The lawmen tried apprehending the Teachers to put them away in the volleyball jail. Fortunately for Teachers, they came with a good defensive game to counter the many attackers by the lawmen. Through consistent serving and good teamwork the Teachers were able to snuff out any attacks from the Police and win the encounter by winning the first two sets.
Also on Saturday, the ANGLEC Shockers created sparks as they tried cutting the power supply to Sunset Homes. ANGLEC displayed its power with excellent defensive work and good hitting. However, Lester “Fishy” Connor, and his teammates were not intimidated as they played with unheralded enthusiasm. His players blocked and slammed anything in their path. Despite their hard work the ANGLEC Shockers took the first set through the hard hitting of Jelanoi Lawrence.
Sunset Homes with national players Merrick “The crowned prince of Volleyball” Richardson and Lester "Fishy" Connor rallied the team and they provided stout resistance to ANGLEC. In fact, they defeated them soundly in the second set. Just like the previous day both teams fought to the death, however the depth of experience of ANGLEC prevailed as they won the third set by two points. As a result ANGLEC won the game 2:1.
