New Ministerial Appointments: PASTORS PHILIP AND HASTINGS TO LEAVE ANGUILLA

Two Seventh-day Adventist Ministers, Pastor Danny Philip, and Pastor Carl Hastings, who served Anguilla with much dedication and distinction, have been given new appointments by the St. Croix-based North Caribbean Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

Pastor Philip, the senior Minister, has been serving in Anguilla for the past four years. He has now been appointed Youth and Chaplaincy Director at the Conference Headquarters which has responsibility for the work of the Ministry in 16 islands. He is already functioning in that position while still on the island. His official appointment as Pastor continues until the end of the month. His successor in mid-October will be Pastor Virgil Sams, a native of St. Eustatius, currently serving in St. Kitts. He has been in the Ministry for 17 or 18 years.

“It has always been a joy not only serving the members of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, but the wider community as well,” Pastor Philip commented. He was grateful for the opportunity to serve the entire island in various ways and for the welcome and support which he and his wife, a Fifth Form teacher at the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School received. He was also thankful for the opportunity to “rub shoulder-to-shoulder" with other Pastors on the island and to have served in several capacities including the National Day of Payer observances, the Anguilla Day Ecumenical Service, the Anguilla Day Parade and other functions. Pastor Philip, who will occasionally visit the island in his new capacity, has extended every good wish to all in Anguilla.

His colleague, Pastor Carl Hastings, who has been serving under his supervision, has completed a two-year internship. He, like Pastor Philip, is a BA graduate in Theology of the University of the Southern Caribbean. He will be leaving Anguilla at month-end to take up full ministry in Montserrat where he will be in charge of the three SDA Churches.

“Anguilla is a wonderful and beautiful island and I have enjoyed being here for the past two years,” he stated. “It is an island that I love very much. I will miss it greatly. My internship here has given me a wide range of experience to further my work as I continue my ministry.

Pastor Philip said he was pleased to have worked with Pastor Hastings during his internship. “He has completed his internship with flying colours and is now prepared for full membership,” he stated.
