Anguillian Promoted To Rank Of Brigadier General In The U.S. Military


Anguillian born Colonel Timothy L. Lake will be promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in the U.S. Military on September 18, 2009 at a Promotion Ceremony in his honour to be held in Maryland, U.S.A.

Colonel Timothy L. Lake was commissioned in the Regular Army from ROTC at North Carolina A & T State University as a Distinguished Military Graduate in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science, Industrial Technology, Manufacturing.

He also has a Master Degree in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College. His first assignment was with 102nd Military Intelligence Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division Korea, 1985 to 1986. He then served the 24th Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia, from 1987 to 1990 as Platoon Leader, Charlie Company, 24th Signal Battalion and Battalion Signal Officer, 3rd Battalion 69th Armor. Upon completion of the Signal Officer Advance Course, Fort Gordon Georgia, Colonel Lake served as Battalion Motor Officer, 141st Signal Battalion, 1st Armory Division during Operations Desert Shield and Storm. Colonel Lake then served as Regimental Signal Officer for 2nd Armored Cavalry Regiment, Germany. May 1992 to December 1993 Colonel Lake served as Commander, Bravo Company 123rd Signal Battalion, then as Division Radio Officer, 3rd Infantry Division until June 1994. Colonel Lake then transferred to the Virgin Islands National Guard where he served as Battalion Adjutant, Territorial Security Officer, Plans Operations and Military Support Officer, and Battalion Operations and Intelligence Officer. In 1998 Colonel Lake attended the United States Army Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

In 1999 Colonel Lake was assigned to the White House Communication Agency and served as Chief, Networks Division, Washington Area Systems Directorate; then as Deputy Chief of Operations. April 2001 to July 2003, Colonel Lake commanded the White House Communication Agency Special Missions Command, Camp David. He attained the title of Presidential Communications Officer enabling him to lead any mission anywhere in the world in support of the President. July 2003 Colonel Lake attended the Army War College. June 2004 to June 2005 he served at the Army National Guard Readiness Center as Branch Chief, Policy, Readiness and Analysis. In 2005 Colonel Lake transferred to Joint Force Headquarters, Virgin Islands National Guard to serve as commander, Joint Task Force and Special Assistant to the Adjutant General. July 2006 he was assigned to the Pentagon to serve on the Department of Defense Joint Staff, J-8 as Branch Chief, Force Assessment, Forces Division. Currently, Colonel Lake is assigned to the Army Capability Integration Center, Fort Monroe, Virginia, serving as the Assistant Chief of Staff, Army National Guard.

Colonel Lake’s military education includes Airborne School, Signal Officer Basic and Advance Course, Communications and Electronics Maintenance Management Course, the Tactical Signal Staff Officer Course, Combined Arms Staff Service School, Command, General Staff Officer Course and the Army War College.

Colonel Lake’s decorations include the Presidential Service Badge, Joint Staff Service Badge, Army Staff Badge, Joint Meritorious Unit Award (2 OLC), the Bronze Star Metal, Defense Meritorious Service Metal (1 OLC), Meritorious Service Metal, Army Commendation Metal (2 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC), Army Reserve Component Medal, National Defense Service Medal , Southwest Asia Service Medal (3 Bronze Service Stars), Humanitarian Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Government of Kuwait) and the Parachute Badge.

Colonel Lake is married to the former Robin Williams and they are blessed with four children: Timothy II, Phillip, Tiffany and Tivon. He is the son of Elaine Lake (deceased) formerly of Mount Fortune, Anguilla and the brother of Everette Davis; Ermine Lake; Iota Bosse; Andina Ruan; Madeline Lake-Thomas; and Averly Lake. He is also the nephew of the Honourable Ronald Webster and Mrs. Cleo Webster; Mrs. Olive Hodge and Mrs. Florel Harrigan.

He is also the nephew of the late Edith and Ruby Webster.
