During a brief hand over at the NAGICO office in The Valley, one of the competition’s coordinators, Keithley Lake, praised NAGICO for coming forward to assist. He said, “We recognize that NAGICO has been a sponsor of many community efforts and we are pleased that NAGICO has decided to include us in their charitable ventures. This is also very timely, in light of the fact that many potential sponsors are not involved due to financial constraints. We are extremely grateful.”
The Calypso competition held at Landsome Bowl, in The Valley was broadcasted in Antigua, Montserrat and St. Kitts.
Marketing Manager Jasmine Payne noted, “NAGICO tries to be at the heart of the community, reflecting the needs and the pastimes of the people it serves. Carnival is one of the foremost cultural expressions in the Caribbean and we are fully supportive of the artists who make it happen. It is an honour to be able to assist one of the pioneers, since King Ellie Matt has been involved in the calypso art form for approximately 40 years.”
