LIME Donates To Calypso Competition, UFO And Band Singer

LIME, the new telecommunications company, which took over from Cable and Wireless, has made sizeable donations to three recipients in relation to culture.
Country Manager in Anguilla, Mark Romney, prefaced his remarks on Wednesday, July 29, by stating that the company had begun to step up its presence in the market in terms of brand awareness. “You will notice some billboards depicting our UFO, the racing boat we sponsor and known to be number one for quite some time,” he said. That sponsorship for the August season races is US$8,000.

He announced the sixth-year of sponsorship of the Leeward Islands Calypso Competition to the tune of US$7,500 for this year’s Summer Festival. “This year we are very much happy to be part of that, given the fact that they will be paying true homage to the legendary Calypso King Ellie Matt [of St. Kitts],”Mr. Romney said.

“We will be doing some very special things on that night. I say to the public: there will be door prizes and surprises and it is very important that you are at the event. These will include gifts of phones and text promotions to win tickets and other offers.” He also referred to the company’s summer promotion called “You Are It” which “has really taken off and we are very much enthused with the response we are getting from our patrons, and that customers will take advantage of the many benefits we are offering,” he went on. There will be cash prizes, supermarket and petrol vouchers in addition to mobile phones, all to help ease the financial pain affecting a number of persons on the island.
