| Publishing date: 24.07.2009 09:34 |
The Blowing Point Youth Development Centre is continuing its outreach to the youth of the community by putting on its first annual Summer Youth Programme. This year’s Programme will focus on three main areas namely: Reading, Arts & Crafts and Culture. Each of these areas has been organized in order to fulfill the Centre’s Vision of a community where all children and young people are equipped to reach their full potential.

Reading classes started on July 6th with forty-five students enrolled, while the arts & crafts programme, which focuses on water color painting, started on July 7th and is being conducted by artist Ms. Lynne Bernbaum. Both programmes will take place throughout the month of July.
A Summer Day Camp is also planned for the second and third weeks of August under the theme “Doing Things Traditional”. The aim of this Camp is to engage the youth in wholesome and exciting holiday activities, while instilling in them a sense of cultural pride and identity. Students who attend this Camp will participate in traditional cooking methods, wood carving, string band music and traditional ring games. There will also be field trips to various farms, salt ponds, museums and other historical sites.
Thirty young persons between the ages of 10 to 16 years old will be targeted to participate.
The Centre’s management body wishes to thank all those who have contributed in one way or another to its developmen. It also appeals to all businesses, organizations and individuals to lend their support for the continual positive development of the Blowing Point Youth Development Centre.
