Letter To The Editor - An Acknowledgement To Mr. Petty

The Editor
The Anguillian

Sir:

AN ACKNOWLEDGMENT TO MR. PETTY

I refer to your edition of The Anguillian dated Friday, 22nd May, 2009 in which you published extracts from an article written by Mr. Colville Petty in 2003 and entitled “It Is Easier For A Camel…”

I was pleased to have seen those extracts which are very familiar to me having quoted extensively from the article in 2003 for a college paper I wrote on politics in mini states in the Caribbean and with particular reference to Anguilla.

My roots are originally in Anguilla and this led me to use this island, to which I claim belongership, as a reference. I recently came across a copy of The Anguillian with the extracts and I am pleased to see the newspaper online, with its website being a constant source of information.

I wish through this medium to publicly thank Mr. Petty for his very useful and insightful article and for the privilege I have had to use portions of it in my paper. It is a late personal acknowledgement, although I had quoted the source in my paper, but I am glad of the opportunity to tell him thanks.
