Annual Primary School Science Fair


The Annual Primary School Science Fair which was sponsored by the Environmental department took place at the Public Library/ Teachers resource center from the 22nd -26th of June 2009. There were five categories in which twenty two projects were entered.

The categories were Physical science, Technological science, Life science, Mechanical science and Environmental science. Judges were impressed with the students’ knowledge of their projects and their ability to explain their work. Two projects which got the judges attention were entitled “Wind Power” and “The Dangers of Excess sugar”. The former mentioned project showed that wind power can be used to generate electricity, while the latter mentioned project addressed the serious concern of the quantity of sugar consumed on a daily basis by our children.

The best overall project was adjudged to be completed by the Alwyn Allison Primary school and it was entitled “Effects of Salt on the Boiling Temperature of Water”.

Teachers were also recognized for their efforts in ensuring that all projects were completed in a timely manner. The participants and the Education Department would like to thank the Department of the Environment for so willingly sponsoring the annual Primary Schools’ Science Fair 2009.
