Anguilla was represented by Samek Connor who competed in the Javelin and Shara Proctor who competed in the long jump. Samek went into the competition with a personal best record of 62.48 meters but was unable to improve on that mark.

In a field of twelve competitors, Shara beat out some of her closest rivals which included athletes from Cuba, Trinidad, Bahamas and St Kitts and Nevis by equaling her personal best mark of 6.61meters. This represents her first senior CAC gold medal and also earns her, an automatic qualifier to the World Championships in Berlin in August 2009. Second place was won by Rhonda Watkins of Trinidad with a jump of 6.47m, with Tanika Liburd of St. Kitts and Nevis placing third with a jump of 6.42m.

Samek will be heading back to school in Missouri and Shara will be going to Germany for a training camp in preparation for the World Championships. She will be joined by Denvil Ruan who will also be at the camp and competing in the 100m event at the Games in Berlin.
