Dwayne Hodge, the founder of the Blowing Point Cycling Foundation, has always had a passion for cycling and has been actively involved in the sport over the last eight years either as a manager or advisor to various cycling clubs which include the Dragon Boys Cycling Club and the Double Trouble Cycling respectively. To his credit, Mr. Hodge was the first person to secure professional cycling uniforms for a club.

The Blowing Point Cycling Foundation, which was formed earlier in the year, seeks to help the youth by steering them away from drugs, guns and alcohol and provide them with a healthy, constructive and positive alternative in the form of cycling. Members of the Foundation include Timothy Richardson, Coach and Senior Cyclist and the Founder of the Double Trouble Cycling Club; Ronnie Bryan, Captain and Senior Cyclist of the Dragon Boys Cycling Club; Matthew Connor, Veteran Cyclist and Cyclist Mechanic; Alreco Connor, Junior Cyclist for Double Trouble and PRO; and Brad Romney, PRO.

“The youth of Anguilla need positive options and alternatives to be involved in during these challenging times,” stated Stephenie Brooks, Manager for Digicel. Although the economic times make it difficult for companies to sponsor existing, much less new, events it is imperative that as good corporate citizens the companies operating in Anguilla support these local initiatives as much as possible.”
“We are very grateful to Digicel for their support,” said Mr. Hodge. “The realization of this Junior Championship Race is a long time coming and to finally see it come to fruition is a dream come true!”
The race is expected to attract over 25 junior cyclists island wide and will take place over two days with the majority of the races starting and ending in front of the Digicel store in The Valley.
Saturday, July 11th:
• Time Trial begins at 9 a.m. in Blowing Point and finishes at Digicel
• Criterium begins at 3 p.m. at Digicel and finishes at Digicel
Sunday, June 12th – the road race begins at 2 p.m. at Digicel and finishes at Digicel.
