Primary Schools Netball Festival |

The second annual Primary Schools Netball Festival sponsored by ANGLEC, in collaboration with the Department of Sports and the Anguilla Amateur Netball Association, was a resounding success.

Valley Primary School
|
The tournament was officially opened on May 8th 2009. Remarks were presented by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Sports, Mrs. Chanelle Petty-Barett; a representative from the sponsor ANGLEC, Ms. Erimel Franklyn; Acting Chief Education Officer Mrs. Veda Harrigan; Director of Sports, Mr. Alkins Rogers; and Vice President of the Anguilla Amateur Netball Association Ms. Linda Proctor.
Seven Primary Schools took part in this year’s Festival, one more than last year. The BALL-O-RAMA was won by the Orealia Kelly Primary School.

Orealia Kelly Primary School
|
At the end of play-offs Orealia Kelly Primary School shared equal points with Central Christian School with a superior goal difference they secured the first place position (a repeat for OKPS). Four schools participated in the semi-finals with Valley Primary School defeating the Morris Vanterpool Primary School.

Adrian T. Hazel primary School
|
The finals was contested between perennial rivals Valley Primary School and Orealia Kelly Primary School. However, it was the guile, perseverance and skill of the Orealia Kelly Primary School which helped them retain their championship. The team produced an all-round performance with Tequania named as the most outstanding player. The team was coached by Linda Proctor.
The Valley Primary School placed 2nd with outstanding performances by their most valuable player Artesha Richardson. The team was coached by Desiree Hennis

Morris Vanterpool Primary School
|
The Morris Vanterpool Primary School captured 3rd place. Keidesha Harrigan and Ronecia Hodge both shared the award for Most Valuable Player for the team Ronecia Hodge also received the ward for Most Disciplined Player. Ariel Gaskin was named the Best Defender and Keidesha Harrigan was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. The team was coached by Rosemond Henderson and Marge Prince.

Island Harbour Primary School

First timers Central Christian School thrilled the crowd with their exceptional sportsmanship and athleticism. They were led by Brianna White who captured the award for the best Center Court Player and named Most Valuable Player for her team. The team was coached by Angie Prince.
Island Harbour Primary School secured the award as the Most Disciplined Team. They were led by Ivana Webster and Eldesa Brooks who shared award for Most Valuable Player for their team and was coached by Cherridelle Coombs.

Central Christian Baptist School

The Alwyn Allison Primary School was named Most Improved Team, they were led by Tiana Richardson who was named Most Improved Player and Chante Pugson who was named the Most Accurate Shooter. Both Tiana and Chante shared most Valuable Player award for their team. The team was coached by Delma Titre.
The Adrian T. Hazel Primary School came strong in the end, led by Dekerra Brade who was named Most valuable Player for her team which was coached by Salene Duke.

As the sport of Netball continues to grow by leaps and bounds in Anguilla the National U13 Team travels to Dominica in August and the U23 to Nevis in July to participate in regional Championships
The Netball Association CONTINUES continues with its community outreach programme with visits to the sick and the shut-in the last Sunday of every month.
OTHER NETBALL NEWS
The Anguilla Day Netball tournament takes place form Friday 5th June – Sunday 7th June with teams from . St. Maarten, St. Kitts, Anguilla U23 and Anguilla A and B teams.
Matches will be played nightly and on Saturday and Sunday Morning. Match start at 6:00 am and 7:30 pm. COME SEE NETBALL AT ITS BEST AND GIVE YOUR SUPPORT TO THE SPORT.
