Shara Proctor Qualifies For The 2009 NCAA Outdoor Championships


Shara Proctor put in a strong performance in the East Regional Outdoor Championships held in North Carolina last weekend and qualified for the 2009 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Outdoor Championships in Arkansas. This will be her third consecutive trip to the National Championships.

On Friday, Proctor achieved her personal best performances in the long jump. She broke the facility record and the East Regional record with a personal best leap of 6.61 meters. The following day she also achieved a personal best in the triple jump with a leap of 13.74 meters. She is now ranked in the top 5 in the NCAA in both the long and high jumps and also in the top thirty in the world in th the events.

She will culminate her 2009 college season at the National Championships in Arkansas from June 10-13, after which she is expected to prepare to represent Anguilla in a number of regional and international meets during the summer.
