Letters To The Editor - Advice To Our Cyclists

Dear Sir:

ADVICE TO OUR CYCLISTS

I would like to address the issue of cyclists riding two, three and sometimes four, abreast on the island’s main roads.

I am quite sure that this contravenes the Road Safety Act. I do this with respect and great admiration for the riders engaged in this hoppy professionally, or otherwise, but would like to highlight the difficulty and danger to other road users.

I have been often drawn into controversy by other road users seeking to excess their frustrations at this now very common practice. I kindly ask our beloved cyclists to exercise more appreciation for others who are going about their business on the roads as well. There are laws that govern the use of the road and it is only wise that we all adhere as closely as possible to them.
