Letters To The Editor - I Too Like Mr. Petty's Museum

The Anguillian

Dear Sir:

I TOO LIKE MR. PETTY’S MUSEUM

It was interesting to see the letter to Mr. Colville Petty OBE from Olivia Steel, a visitor to Anguilla, in the previous edition of The Anguillian.

I have been visiting Anguilla each year during the month of February and I believe that I can be a good tour guide to other visitors, having visited the island several times and enjoyed its many offerings and pleasure-filled memories.

I am well acquainted with Mr. Petty’s museum at the eastern end of the island, having visited there a few times over the years. His conservation work is certainly stunning and a great contribution and asset not only to Anguillians, but visitors who truly want to take an educational “peek into the history of the island,” as I remember his signboard proudly proclaiming.

I too like his museum and think that there is no other place in the Caribbean comparable to this collection which has been carefully researched, displayed and labeled. It was a shame when I learnt that someone had stolen one his treasured artifacts.
