Cricket Development Officer, Cardigan Connor, told The Anguillian that the players were Shaka Hodge, Chesney Hughes, Kelbert Walters, Monsell Hodge, Lindell Richardson, Jamar Hamilton and Rondel Lake.
Mr. Connor said that for five of them the trip would be for six months while two of them, Chesney and Kelbert, would be playing for three to four months as they were expected to return to the region to play in the West Indies Under 19 Tournament.
Mr. Connor is a successful and professional Anguillian cricketer who is committed to the sport and is very much involved in coaching other local players to excel as well. Asked how he felt about his involvement, he replied:

“It is with a great sense of pride. Coming from West End years ago, back in the early 70s, cricket was a great passion. Transport was hard to come by but I had a great love for the game,” he stated. “I was fortunate enough to go to England at the age of 15 where I was exposed to the world of cricket. Now it is great to be able to give a number of these youngsters whom I have worked with, some since the ages of 8 or 9,[the necessary training]. I am proud to see what Omari Banks has achieved and to see that so many others are on that path as well. It gives me the greatest sense of pride, humanly possible.”
Mr. Connor was pleased that the cricket clubs in England were paying for the Anguillian cricketers who were regarded as overseas professional players. He said this was a good gesture which spared him from having to find local sponsorship. “It is a case of saying that these cricketers have proven that they are good enough to be regarded as professional cricketers,” he added. >
