Anthropologist Praises Petty's Book

Dear Sir

ANTHROPOLOGIST PRAISES PETTY’S BOOK

As an Anthropologist, I have a special liking for Caribbean history and the social and cultural lifestyles of the region’s people.

I have been to Anguilla a couple of times and have always been intrigued by its history including the 18th century French/English battles and the struggles of the Anguillian people themselves with their own colonial difficulties. I remember when they stunned the world by their 1967 revolution and I admire them for their strength and resilience.

I was quite impressed when I picked up and read Colville Petty’s book “Our Forebears”. I think it is both a good piece of literature and a very informative work. It is certainly a welcome addition to the books and magazines on Anguilla and to the Caribbean bookshelf in general.

I was on a whirlwind stopover on Anguilla and missed seeing some of the places and people I have heard so much about and can only place these on the backburner for a hopeful visit one of these days.
