The National Disaster Management Committee (NDMC) joined the Anguilla Hotel and Tourism Association, Cap Juluca Hotel, the Environmental Health Unit and other community organization as part of the island-wide cleanup campaign on Friday March 13th, 2009.

The His Excellency The Governor (Ag) cancelled the normally monthly meeting of the NDMC and requested committee members to assist in the clean-up of the George Hill area from 7:30 am 9:00 am thereby showing their commitment to risk reduction and the beautification of Anguilla.

Director Disaster Management, Mrs Elizabeth Klute stated that the effort would “help reduce the amount of waste and materials on the roadsides and properties that may impact others during a storm or hurricane event. Cleaning of the land also mitigates plugged drains and channels to reduce risk of flooding during heavy rains.”

The NDMC was proud to be part of the national effort.
