Remarks were given by Mr. Selwyn Horsford, the Bank’s Chief Corporate Officer, Mr. Romare Kelsick, Chairman of NBA’s Staff Consultative Group and Mr. Conrad Walton Fleming, Chairman of the Board of Directors. In his remarks, Mr. Fleming stated that “The Board of Directors, some few years ago, under the leadership of the then Chairman Mr. Joseph N Payne, recognized that with the increased number of staff and the hard work that is usually demonstrated by the staff, it would only be befitting to provide for the well being of the staff and their families in a way not presently offered by any other employer on the Island. Therefore, the decision was made to construct a multipurpose staff facility to accommodate staff children, staff recreational, study and other life enhancing activities.” He also remarked that “this all started with a vision.Just as 24 years ago the 8 promoters had a vision for NBA. This facility was someone’s vision. It was his dream that such a facility be opened to accommodate both staff and their children. With that being said it gave me great pride and pleasure to be a part of the decision by the Bank to name this building in honor of Mr. Joseph N Payne who, as of today, has been the Bank’s longest serving Chairman. Today this facility will be named The Joseph N Payne NBA Staff Support Building.

Upon delivering his remarks, the guest of honour, Mr. Payne stated: “In any organization its human resources are one of the most vital keys to its success. Therefore I, along with the entire Board of Directors, believe strongly in providing avenues for self growth whether it’s through training or further development or through the introduction of a facility such as this.”

In closing Mr. Payne, implored the staff to work with their Management Team to ensure that whatever programs are implemented for use in the building will be of great value to them and the Bank as a whole.

The ceremony concluded with the blessing of the Building by Pastor Cecil Richardson who also delivered the invocation.
