THE ANGUILLA FERRY SYSTEM

The Ferry Terminal at Blowing Point is often a visitors first glimpse of Anguilla. It is also the best way to take a day trip to neighbouring island St. Martin, Sint Maarten.
THE DAYTIME FERRY
Daytime ferry service starts at 7:00 AM everyday and runs every half hour until the last day ferry leaves Anguilla at 6:15 PM and returns from St. Martin at 7:00 PM.

A day tripper visits St. Martin and returns the same day.

Note: There is no way to reserve a seat on the ferry. Just arrive at the port and purchase your ticket and wait for the next ferry.

The Anguilla Ferry system is operated by a number of independent boat owners coordinated by the Anguilla Government Immigration and Customs.
ARRIVAL FROM ST. MARTIN-MAARTEN
If your flight arrives in St. Martin and you choose to take the ferry to Anguilla rather than a connecting flight, this is what to expect.
Taxi drivers are waiting outside the airport in St. Martin and will take you to the ferry port in Marigot. It takes about 20 minutes if traffic is good.

When you arrive at the port, go to the window to sign in. The attendant will take your passport to fill in the manifest. He will return your passport and give you a boarding pass.

At the Tax window a port attendant will collect the departure tax and give you a receipt. St. Martin Departure tax: $ 5.00 US Prices change according to current rate.

An immigration officer might ask to inspect your passport or boarding pass. There is a waiting room with refreshments and a rest room.

You can see the ferry arriving and the ferry attendant will announce it is time to board. Hand him your tax slip and boarding pass.

The ferry attendant will assist you with your luggage or packages.

On the boat the ferry attendant will collect your fare - $15.00 and give you an immigration and customs form to fill out during your trip from the port at Marigot. Be sure to include your place of residence in Anguilla.

When you arrive in Anguilla allow the ferry attendant to remove your bags from the ferry. You can then pick them up or have a porter carry them up. You have to tip the porter.

Walk up to the port building and wait in line for immigration. There is usually a line for belongers and visitors.

Present your immigration paper and your passport to the immigration officer.

Proceed to customs and either delare goods for duty or when asked by the customs officer say you have nothing to declare.

Duty is paid on items such as electronic equipment and household items (new).

Taxis are waiting outside the exit.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
The ferry system for all good intentions runs on island time. What is supposed to be an 11:00 am departure may become 11:30 unexpectedly. If you are using the ferry to make a flight connection in St. Maarten, be sure to arrive at the ferry in plenty of time. Ferrys are scheduled to run every 45 minutes and the estimated time of the journey is 18 to 20 minutes but rough seas or unexpected delays might cause you to arrive as much as a half hour later than expected.
DEPARTURE FROM ANGUILLA
If you are leaving Anguilla by ferry or taking a day trip to St. Martin/Maarten this is what to expect when you arrive at the ferry port in Blowing Point.
Bloiwing Point to Marigot Bay, St. Martin (French).
Arrive at the port in Blowing Point and find a place to park your rental car. There are several areas around the port, all charge.
Walk to the port entrance and inside wait in line to sign up for the next ferry and then pay your departure tax.
You will be given a tax slip and a boarding pass that will be collected as you leave the port building.
Because of new security measures the ferry port waiting area has been divided into two areas. After paying your tax, proceed to the door of the departure lounge and a uniformed immigration officer will inspect your luggage and pass a wand over your person.

The ride takes about 20 minutes.
When you arrive at the port in Marigot an immigration officer will ask to see your passport.
Once outside the port there are rental cars and you are within easy walking distance to the town of Marigot.
In Marigot
Once you arrive in Marigot there is still a 20 minute taxi ride to Princess Juliana International airport. Allow time for traffic, the road from Marigot to the airport is often crowded. Taxi drivers will be waiting at the ferry port to offer you a ride. It's about $15.00 to the airport.

Traveling To St. Barths
Take the ferry from Anguilla to the port in Marigot, St. Martin and catch the ferry to St. Barths.
MV Voyager departs daily from the waterfront in Marigot,St. Martin, bound for Gustavia, at 9:00 AM and at 6:15 PM. 590 590 27 54 10 for reservations.

Oyster Line departs daily except Thursdays from Oyster Pond, Dutch St. Maarten, for Gustavia, at 8:30 AM and at 4 PM. 590 590 87 46 13 for reservations.
The Edge a high speed ferry travels to Gustavia once a day from Tuesday till Saturday. It leaves from Pelican Marina in Dutch St. Maarten at 9 AM. 599 544 26 40 for info and reservations.
