Seven Areas In Anguilla Burglarised


There seems to be no let up in the number of burglaries in Anguilla week after week.

The Police reported on Wednesday that of the 17 crimes committed during the period February 25-March 4, there were 8 burglaries. They occurred at Tanglewood, Sandy Ground, Stoney Ground, The Valley, West End, Long Ground and South Hill.

The stolen items included a cellular phone, chain saw, computer, two television sets a weed eater and a sum of money.

There were seven thefts at The Quarter, Black Garden, Rey Hill, The Valley and North Side. The stolen items included goats, spare ribs, a car stereo set, an Ipod, digital camera, caps and US $1500. The money was taken from under a car seat where the driver placed it and walked in a restaurant in the Meads Bay area. The driver returned to the vehicle only to find the money missing.

Nine persons were arrested during the period. Seven of them were males who were taken into custody for such offences as burglary, suspicion of burglary, theft, wounding, disorderly conduct, to prevent a breach of the peace and for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
