Police Report: Burglaries Still A Problem In Anguilla


The police report for the period February 18-25, showed that there were ten burglaries in Anguilla in the areas of Old Ta, East End, Island Harbour, South Hill, Deep Waters and North Side.

The items stolen included cellular phones, jewelry, a weed eater, a lap top computer, a Radio/CD player and a television set.
One of the burglaries, on February 23, was at Liz Preschool at Old Ta where the television set and the Radio/CD player were stolen. Another burglary was at the Alwyn Allison Primary School where the Principal’s desk drawer was broken into.

There were five theft reports at The Quarter, Black Garden, Rey Hill, The Valley and North Side. The items stolen included a wallet, car windscreen, a Nintendo DS and 8-inch blocks.
Fourteen persons were arrested during the February 18-25 period. Those arrested were two females on a bench warrant; one male for indecent assault, one for wounding; one on suspicion of theft; one for burglary; two on suspicion of burglary; two to prevent a breach of the peace; and four males for breaching the immigration regulations.

There were five traffic accidents, four minor and the other which was serious, involved the collision of a car and a truck on the George Hill main road.

On February 23, Alpha Pennyfeather of Stoney Ground pleaded guilty to dangerous driving. He was fined EC$3,500 to be paid by March 6 or spend 12 months in prison.
