The 9 youth volunteers present, engaged in friendly historical conversations with the seniors, fed them and braided their hair. They also bathed some of them, sorted out their laundry and sung melodiously to them. This was greatly enjoyed by all, seniors and staff alike.
The Junior Red Cross Volunteers also donated toiletries (toilet paper and diapers) and other essential items to the Home.
The staff were very receptive of the young volunteers. This was shown in their remarks made during the youth’s timely visit. They commented:
“It’s nice to see young people coming out to do these things.”
“We really do appreciate having you here.”
“Oh thank you… thank you… thank you.”
The purpose of the visit was to show the staff and residents of the Home that there
