Flower And Garden Show This Weekend |

The “Celebration” of ten years of the Flower and Garden Show is on Saturday, February 28 and March 1. Organizers are planning an extra special show this year so be sure to attend at Wallblake House and garden. The show opens on Saturday at 11.00 a.m. and continues until Sunday at 4.00 p.m. when the closing ceremony and certificate presentation takes place.

There will also be a special 10th Anniversary commemorative glossy booklet that will be 8.5 by 11 inches and will have features, tips, plant care information, photographs of past shows and much more.
There will be several garden displays from two of the hotels and garden centres and the eight primary schools. For the first time this year there will be a special competition for flowers made with icing sugar that can be shown on small containers. An exhibition of floral embroidery will be on show in the old church as well as an orchid display.
In Wallblake House there will be the arrangements of flowers, including fresh flowers, flowers from Anguilla, foliage without flowers, flowers depicting a sunset, fresh flowers and fruit, a single flower in a vase as well as a new category called Wow Factor that will be an “off the wall’ crazy arrangement of plants and flowers. The plant class includes flowering plants, foliage plants, cactus or succulents, oversized plants and miniature gardens.
Special presentations will be made on both Saturday and Sunday. Anna Kennedy will talk about Garden Pests on Saturday and Brian Corbett will demonstrate a different method for rooting plants. On Sunday Franklin Brooks will talk about Organic Herbs for Healthy Living and Corbett will repeat the method for rooting talk.
At the Opening Ceremony on Saturday the winners of the Best Garden and Best Village competition will be announced. Speakers will include the Governor Andrew George, Chief Minister Osbourne Fleming and Bernice Lake, who will all give short addresses. The ribbon will be cut by Rowena Carty.
