Savannah Gallery Holds Art Exhibition |
| Publishing date: 16.02.2009 10:28 |
The new paintings and giclee prints of Paul Elliot Thuleau, a French artist, started at the Savannah Gallery on Saturday February 7. There are several oil paintings on canvas and five of these are based on the villas of Cap Juluca. Thuleau likes to paint scenes using doors and windows of traditional homes of Anguilla and he liked the challenge of painting the white buildings of Cap Juluca instead of the bright colours he often uses. He captures the atmosphere of the houses through the windows and doors with the use of shadows and plants.

There are three giclee prints that are framed, and several unframed. The prints are made from a digital source using ink jet printing. The word is from the French “le gicleur” meaning nozzle or to squirt or spray and the process results in some excellent quality prints.
Thuleau spent two years at an architecture school in Paris, then he decided he wanted to paint and he left France and travelled to Rome, Athens and Crete. In 1981 he returned to Paris to attend the Goetz Academy, studying drawing, painting and engraving.
The talented artist spends six months every year in St Martin and six months in Paris. This is the fourth exhibition he has held in Anguilla. He has held many solo exhibitions in Paris, Luxembourg, Brazil, Japan, Canada and the United States. He has permanent displays of his work in St Barths, Anguilla, Japan, France and Luxembourg.
