They competed in various boats in the categories of lasers, C420s, optimists and hobi cats, an interesting fleet of tiny vessels, but a far cry from the sleek racing boats for which Anguilla has become well known. The Anguillian competitors captured most of the trophies in the race which began at 9.30 a.m. and continued until 3.30 p.m.

The competition was sponsored mainly by Sol, represented by David Antrobus, General Manager for the North Caribbean. The other sponsors were a number of business establishments in Anguilla. The trophies were presented by William Ferguson, Coach for the Anguilla Youth Sailing Club.
Speaking at the short presentation ceremony, the Club’s Committee member, Donald Curtis, expressed gratitude to all of the sponsors and was pleased with the success of the dinghy regatta and the large number of persons who participated in the event.
