The fabric montages are quite spectacular and it is obvious that the creations took hours of work to achieve the finished scenes. It is multimedia art and includes flowers, beads, fabric, coral, silks, paint and lames. They are all hand stitched and locked separately to create the finished work that is unusual and very appealing.
Some of the oil paintings are influenced by underwater scenes and also include Anguillian flowers and trees. Tanya is a Canadian artist and printmaker who studied lithography, etching and painting at Emily Carr College of Art in Vancouver. She moved to Japan in 1986 to study the ancient Japanese art form of woodblock printmaking. She says that her time in Japan has influenced her present work and this can be seen, especially in the montages.
Clark now has her own Art Studio in Anguilla where she conducts art seminars and welcomes interested visitors. The present exhibition will continue at The Verandah and new work will be added. The store is a perfect background for the art work as it includes attractive outdoor furniture in a garden setting.
