Ex-Police Officers Remember Colleague

The members of the Ex-Police Officers’ Association demonstrated a sense of camaraderie when they remembered their colleague, Alban John, and presented him with a small, but much-loved gift at the start of activities marking the 37th Anniversary of the Royal Anguilla Police Force on Sunday, January 25.

“He is a lover of cake,” President of the Association, former Corporal Hewlett Gumbs, said as he presented John with the decorated delicacy at the Tender Loving Care Home in The Valley, where he is a resident.

John, also a one-time Corporal in the Force, has been a ‘live wire’ around the community until he sustained injuries in a traffic accident which, despite treatment abroad, has left him virtually confined to bed at the home. He was visibly overcome by the love and remembrance shown to him by those who served with him in the Police Force.

The Ex-Police Officers visited their colleague after attending the Police Anniversary Service at the First Baptist Church at Welches. They were part of a social gathering at Police Headquarters on Wednesday, one of the activities for the week.
