Display of floral arrangements
|
The show will comprise two main classes - arrangements of flowers, and plants growing in containers. The flower arrangements include fresh flowers, flowers from Anguilla, foliage without flowers, flowers depicting a sunset, fresh flowers and fruit, a single flower in a vase and a new category called Wow Factor that will be an “off the wall’ crazy arrangement of plants and flowers. The plant class includes flowering plants, foliage plants, cactus or succulents, oversized plants and miniature gardens. Currently the ABC is giving free lessons in flower arranging to encourage entries to the competition.
There will also be several garden displays and a school art competition. For the first time this year there will be a special competition for flowers made with icing sugar that can be shown on small containers. An embroidery exhibition will be on show in the old church as well as an orchid display.
The judges will be looking for the overall appearance of the arrangements, the condition of the flowers or plants, the artistic design, the creativity and originality, and the balance, shape and colour of the arrangement.
Everyone is invited to compete this year in one of the classes, so the ABC committee is urging you to prepare your plants and flowers and be ready to compete.
