He passed on the tips to the media on Wednesday as the police reported a series of burglaries and robberies which occurred during the period (January 14-22) as will be reported later in the story.

The ten tips include the following: be aware and remain vigilant of your surroundings at all times; change your routine on a regular basis; never be alone when opening or closing your business premises day or night; avoid carrying large amounts of cash on your premises, in your car or in your home; report anything suspicious to the police; if you think you are being followed when driving, call 911 and drive towards Police Headquarters rather than to your intended destination; never pull over at the side of the road at the request of another driver who you don’t know.

The police said that on Wednesday January 14 at about 9 pm, there was a robbery report at West End at a Restaurant. The victim stated that just after his staff had left the restaurant, he was attacked by two masked men who entered his office with guns. They robbed him of his wallet and a large sum of cash. He sustained minor injuries from the robbers.

In another incident, a man walking in the Blowing Point area was robbed by two men and subsequently got a lift out of the area by a motorist. The victim has not reported the incident to the police who are encouraging him to come forward so that investigations could be carried out.

There were a total of six crimes committed in Anguilla during the January 14-22 period. The four burglaries (included in the cases) occurred at Stoney Ground, The Valley and South Hill. Among the stolen items were phone cards, cigarette lighters, men’s clothing and shoes.

Two thefts were reported at West End and Cauls Bottom. A goat and a sum of money were stolen.

Three arrests were made during the period under review. The three arrested males were for actual bodily harm, possession of cannabis and for immigration breaches respectively.
