Christmas has come and gone and the New Year has dawned, both finding Ivy Frett-Carty and other occupants at North Side with an uninhabitable burnt-out home.

Fire Victim, Ms. Ivy Frett-Carty
|
The daylight fire, of unknown origin, flared up on December 19. Despite the efforts of neighbours and the Fire Department to put it out, the fire left the house and the personal belongings of the family in a sad state of destruction.
Ms Frett-Carty, her grandson and great grandson were the occupants of the house at the time. She has taken up temporary residence with her niece, Sandra Richardson, in another area of North Side.
The incident, reported in The Anguillian, occurred at a time of much preparation for the Christmas Season. The appeal for assistance for the fire victims may have got lost in the busy seasonal activities and is therefore being repeated here to attract the attention of all philanthropic businesses, community and church groups and individuals wishing to make contributions to a worthy cause.
