Bright Student Studying Theology

Nineteen-year-old Leriano Webster, one of Anguilla’s brilliant graduates of the Albena Lake-Hodge Comprehensive School, left the island this week to pursue a four-year course of studies in Theology, in the Ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, at the Southern Caribbean University in Trinidad.

Leriano, who graduated from Sixth Form in 2007, holds 8 CSEC subjects, 8 CAPE Units and an Associate Degree in Business Administration. He is thought to be one of the most academic students to have enrolled at the university in recent times.

He graduated from the Comprehensive School in 2007 and will be studying for a Bachelor’s degree in Theology for four years.
He commented that he had decided to become a Preacher rather than to pursue secular studies as he felt the call to the Ministry was irresistible. He has had a number of preaching sessions at the Mount Fortune Seventh-day Adventist Church over the past year, where he served in a leadership role as a young Christian.

Leriano is the son of Sam and Judith Webster of Island Harbour. A matter that has had a marked impression on him was what he believes was the miraculous saving of his father from drowning last year, while on a fishing trip east of Anguilla. He sees that incident as an example of God’s grace which has given him something to think and talk about.
