AARF Announces Winners Of The Kathy Melby Memorial “Education Project Of The Year” Competition At Ro


On Wednesday June 18th at the morning assembly at Road School, the Anguilla Animal Rescue Foundation’s Education Chairman, Linda Gratton, accompanied by Vice President, Suzie Donahue, announced the winners of the 2008 Kathy Melby Memorial Education Project of the Year.

The 4th grade class of Teacher Ornette participated in this year’s project that focused on how animals enrich our lives. Posters were created by the students that illustrated this theme. Three students were presented with cash prizes donated by the family of Kathy Melby who sponsors the program in her memory. The competition was established as a way to honor Kathy’s kindness and love for the animals here in Anguilla. Kathy passed away in 2003. The Anguilla Animal Rescue Foundation (AARF) in partnership with Road School has conducted the competition for the past 5 years.

First Prize winner was Reshacina Warner who wrote that “Pets enrich our lives by helping us to see how wonderful they are”.

Second Prize was won by Murnelsa Samuel whose poster stated that “Pets make us feel happy and responsible”.

Third Prize winner Mariales Lelizione said she loves her cat Princess with all her heart.
