Daphne Hodge Obtains Master's Degree


Deputy Director in the Department of Social Development has completed and received a Master’s Degree in Management/Human Resources Management from the University of Phoenix in the United States with a 3.64 GPA on a scale of 4.00. The two-year programme comprised research, individual and group assignments affording her the opportunity to work with diverse individuals from several countries and varied professional expertise. Her studies were financed through a partial scholarship from the University of Phoenix and private funds.

Mrs. Hodge was a student at Oakwood College in the USA and the College of the Virgin Islands where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work in 1984. She began her career in the Virgin Islands and joined the Department of Social Development in Anguilla (formerly the Community Development Department) in 1986 as a Senior Community Development Officer. In 1991 she was promoted to the post of Deputy Director in the same department where she currently serves as Director of Family & Social Services.

“My motto throughout my career and professional development is founded on the belief that all things are possible with God and that ‘the secret of success is being ready when the opportunity comes,’” Mrs. Hodge commented. “I take this opportunity to encourage everyone to pursue their dreams and let the sky be the limit.” The enterprising Mrs. Hodge is now considering pursuing a doctoral degree.

The grateful professional said: “I express gratitude to my academic adviser, Stephanie Dixon, for her guidance and moral support, to my husband, children, parents, friends and Supervisor, Mr. Sanford Richardson.”

Mrs. Hodge, who married to Malcolm Hodge, has three children and is the daughter of John and Silvanita Connor in Anguilla. She is a member of the Immanuel Methodist Church where she serves on the choir, pastoral committee and as an Assistant Class Leader.
