The late Teacher Art Egel
|
Most people knew Teacher Art as the principal of the Alwyn Allison Primary School in West End and, of course, knew of by his environmental endeavours with the annual and highly acclaimed Camp Be Aware. His death occurred after various medical complications that led to heart failure.
Teacher Art’s heart was always in the right place and he was very passionate about Anguilla and especially the children. When he was a very young man, he was diagnosed with cancer and given only a few weeks to live. He obviously beat it and has lived a very full and vibrant life. Because he beat the cancer many years ago he has always tried to live life to its fullest and to have respect for the environment. He never had patience for people who made excuses and certainly brought out the best in everyone. He is an icon in Anguilla and will forever be remembered.
Details of his passing, funeral arrangements and proper write up will not be disclosed until the return of his wife Marian.
