A Positive Attitude by Nurse Lynette Rogers

The Bible teaches that we are from a royal priesthood so that qualifies us as royalty. I claim royalty so when my life seemed to be in trouble I said to myself Ok this is a test of my faith and by Gods’ help, I will be victorious over this test for his queen.
Little did I know how serious this trouble in my life would turn out to be. It all started with a feeling of being very tired all week and no matter what I tried I was just tired. All during the week I could not wait until Friday to rest on Sabbath.

Around Friday night after 11.00, I realized that the earlier feeling of walking and stumbling was not a joke but was something more serious. I tried to call my neighbour to take me to the hospital but I could not get an answer. I stumbled across the road because by this time I recognized the symptoms of an impending stroke. Time was important to reach the hospital. He took me to the Accident and Emergency Department and I was eventually admitted to the Ward.

Everything seemed to be responding well to treatment and physiotherapy to restore movement in my right arm and leg which were affected by the first stroke.

The second attack hit my facial nerves affecting my speech five days later. All this happened after tests in St. Martin five days before test normal. On my journey back after the second attack I made a resolve to declare war against the devil and claim my royalty because I know that the devil has no answer for my King who is always in control.

I knew many persons were praying for me and there is power in prayer and that gave me strength to fight on. Many persons saw the smiles and laughter which God allowed for me to show everyone that with God all things are possible. When I was asked about a second opinion I felt that God had already worked that out as well. When I was told about going to Barbados for further tests that too was already worked out. What I would tell everyone God works everything out in time.

Today as I am recovering from my illness I can truly say God is love and teaches us lessons in coping with stress even through suffering and pain. To God be the Glory Great things he has done.

Thanks to my Pastors, friends near and far, for their prayers, the staff of the Princess Alexandra Hospital especially Dr. Guinto, Dr. Goddard and the staff of the Mooreside Clinic, Bay View, Barbados for their care and management.

My experience only proves that God is still in control and only he will ever and always have the answers in life. Put God’s trust first at all times and he will direct your path.
