Ms. Shantal Bryan is a resident of Welches. After noticing the downward trend the kids in our society were taking she founded a group called Kids Are Us. She is a member of the Optimist Club of Anguilla and the Pathfinders.

Her interactive time with the kids include games and community service. She thought that the Pathfinders gave her incite to go out and share what she learned from them with the community. Arising from Shantal’s Kids Are Us is the Little Patriots, comprising 70 kids.

Shantal’s endeavour was to form the first community drum band in Anguilla, giving herself a deadline of one month to acquire the needed instruments. She embarked on a unique fundraising scheme, having persons island wide sponsor one complete instrument.

To date Shantal has been successful in obtaining 50 instruments for her Little Patriots and expects to receive 30 more by Monday.

Shantal would like to give special recognition to her support team which includes Othlyn Vanterpool, Karen Harrigan, Carol Morton and Mesha Webster who faithfully stood beside her. She would also like to say special thanks to one of her main sponsors, Weblinks, and to all the persons in Anguilla who donated and assisted in any way possible. Special thanks to the Soroptimist Club, ABF Services and the Government of Anguilla. This could not be possible without the outgoing support of the parents in the community.

With Shantal being the director of the drum band she will have the assistance of Kiron Smith (teaching the beats), Steve Gumbs (DJ Sugar), Kawahon Duncan and Moriex Webster.
Shantal’s aim is to have the Little Patriots in the Anguilla day parade.
