Local Banks Show Spirit Of Giving


The two indigenous commercial banks in Anguilla, the National Bank of Anguilla and the Caribbean Commercial Bank contributed much to the Christmas spirit of giving this week, as part of their community outreach efforts and their continuing social interaction with the public.

CCB held its Children Christmas Gala at the Gazebo just outside its premises where schoolchildren participated in singing, dancing and other forms of merriment. There were special presentations by the All Ah We Young Theatre Players among other social activities.

A short Christmas Message was delivered by CCB’s Operations Manager, Wade Richardson, on behalf of the Board of Directors and the Management and Staff of the bank.

Following other presentations, the children crossed the road to the grounds of the bank where staff members distributed large numbers of gifts to them. The Christmas Gala was co-hosted by Mr. CCB 2007/8 (Miguel Franklin) and Ms CCB 2006/7, Shellya Rogers.

The National Bank’s 19th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting & Gift Give-Away was held on Wednesday afternoon in the NBA’s Parking Lot where the many children and parents were welcomed by the bank’s Call Centre Head, Eartha Rogers. The Christmas Message was delivered by Icilma Hazell, NBA’s Compliance Manager.

The talent competition, which involved various schoolchildren, brought much delight to the audience and resulted in a number of winners.

Other activities were the Children’s Club Account Raffle by NBA’s CEO, E. Valentine Banks and the lighting of the Christmas Tree by Celestine John.

One of the most exciting and long-awaited events was the gift-give-away, with the appearance of Terry Brennan, a well known personality on the island who performs the role of the fabled “Santa Claus.”
