Mr. Allen was asked to do a presentation on how to conduct a proper interview. He arrived to Campus A on Monday, October 1 and began his presentation promptly at 12:30 p.m. Using a power point presentation, the students were informed on proper media practices and ethics such as reporting only the news. It was discussed how in Anguilla it is common to perceive gossip as fact and through various mediums of communication this unethical practice is being conducted.
During the presentation, the children learned about the materials needed to conduct an interview, proper research techniques in order to prepare, issues that arise during the interview and how to utilize the information received to do a proper article.
The students asked many questions and remained very attentive. Mr. Hill and the staff of The Anguillian will be discussing ways to establish a journalism internship for interested students in the future.
