The winners and runners up received trophies and there were many prizes that were drawn from the participants’ names including stays in hotels, flights, dinners at restaurants, wine, golf games and golf clubs.
There were some 150 senior and junior participants in the putting competition. The junior winner was Raheem Brooks and there was a tie for the seniors between Hale Kelly and John Bouware. The putting competition raised approximately US$2,500.
Kay Ferguson, a member of the organising committee said that US$65,000 was raised but the final figure was not yet known. She thanked all the participants, the sponsors and the committee members. “I hope you all had a good time and will come again next year,” she told the players.
The funds raised are to be used to provide much-needed capital financing for the commissioning of an intensive care unit (ICU) and a second operating theatre at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
