On Tuesday this week, Managing Director of Scotiabank (Anguilla) Limited, Kerwin Jn. Baptiste, presented a cheque for US$8,000 for this year’s customary sponsorship of the event.
In presenting the cheque to Paul Romney and Hulio Carty Jr. on behalf of the Anguilla Boat Racing Committee, Mr. Baptiste said Scotiabank was again happy to contribute to the Champion of Champions Boat Race.
“As you know, boat-racing is an integral part of the culture in Anguilla and that makes us doubly pleased to be associated with this boat race every year and we will continue to do so for the foreseeable future,” Mr. Baptiste said.
He expressed confidence that the organisers would do a very good job in carrying out the race and assured them that Scotiabank would be behind them in every sense of the word.
Romney said the race would be held at Sandy Ground on August 9 and expressed gratitude to Scotiabank on behalf of the Boat Racing Committee for its financial assistance.
Also at the brief presentation ceremony were Andrew Niles, Assistant Manager, Personal Banking and Valdez Johnson, Credit Assistant.
