Miss Anguilla Reigns At Miss Ecstacy Competition


On Saturday, July 28, Miss Anguilla Amber Woodley came out on top as the 2007 Miss Ecstasy. In a pageant held at the Landsome Bowl Cultural Centre, the MC’s were Oluwakemi Linda Banks and Iwandi and the band for the event was Gossip and the Boys. Representatives from Anguilla, Grenada, Barbados, Antigua, BVI, Curaçao, Dominica, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, and Trinidad and Tobago.

With 12 young ladies competing, the competition was fierce and close near then end.
The first runner-up, Crystal McLawrence, hails from Grenada and the second runner-up out of Barbados was Jnana McClean. The third runner-up was Samantha Isaac out of Antigua.

The organizers of the event were S.W. Productions and the Anguilla Commentators Association of which Alkins Rogers, one of the main organizers, is a member. Mr. Rogers mentioned that the committee has been in existence for 11 years which is consequently the entire life of the show. He is proud of the fact that the show brings together contestants from throughout the region displaying a blend of diverse cultures and is designed to foster regional unity.

The key sponsors for the Miss Ecstasy Pageant were Cable and Wireless, Government of Anguilla, Anguilla Great House, Anguilla Masonry Product, Tackling Insurance, Nagico, NBA, and Caribbean Liquors. Mr. Rogers said, “as always, the show was of an exceptional high standard and flowed with no breaks. The twelve contestants along with the 2006/2007 Miss Ecstasy gave an outstanding performance that will be remembered for a very long time.”
