Part one of the drill was centred on the training of road clearance personnel on the salvageable materials that may be part of debris after the passage of a hurricane. The field exercise took place at the Island Harbour/Welches/Shoal Bay Road junction.

The Damage Analysis and Needs Assessment process including shelter management and the use of the relief tracking system was also tested.

Part two of the functional exercise at the National Emergency Operations Centre included message-handling, decision-making, situation and status reports and briefings.

The national hurricane exercise is a simulation with events contrived to highlight specific possible impacts resulting in the need for quick response, communication and coordinated problem-solving.

The exercise was undertaken by work crews from the Ministry of Communications and Infrastructure, Cable and Wireless, Caribbean Cable Communications and the Anguilla Electricity Company. A five-man team from the disaster preparedness unit in St. Maarten came to Anguilla to witness the exercise.
