The Anguilla Police Force says it is investigating several reports alleging that counterfeit US one hundred dollar notes are in circulation on the island.

The police issued a statement this week saying that the Force had received the reports between Thursday April 19 and Monday, April 23.
The statement continued: “Presently officers of the Criminal Investigation Department are investing these suspicious US$100 notes. The Royal Anguilla Police Force is advising the general public, including the business and banking community, to be vigilant and to report to the police any suspicious counterfeit currency passed to them or their business for services.
“The Royal Anguilla Police Force is cooperating with the US Secret Service to assist in the investigation of the alleged counterfeit notes taken into police custody. The Force is also seeking their assistance in providing training for police officers and members of the banking community with regard to counterfeit notes.”
The police collected over 7,500 dollars in hundred dollar bills for testing.
