At the Annual General Meeting of the Anguilla Soroptimist Club, Alison Carty was installed as the new President and a new executive was elected. The event was held at the Soroptimist Day Care Centre on Tuesday April 24.

A report for the past year was presented by Secretary Josephine Gumbs. She referred to the 25th Anniversary celebrations that were held last year and the events that took place. The reports for the committees were read and the work of the club includedfund raising through the Christmas Fair, a concert, lunches and an auction.

The community work included teen talks, the annual reading workshop, work at WISE (Workshop Initiative for Support in Education) and health promotions for women.
Soroptimist Murielle Owen reported on the Day Care Centre and gave details of the expenses for the year. She noted that a new Director is needed for the Centre.
Patron of the Club, Mrs Andrew George, gave special thanks to the President Carmencita Davis and Secretary Josephine Gumbs for their work during the year. She thanked members for the warm welcome she had received and said she was pleased to be a part of the Club and looked forward to working with members for the good of the community.

The Patron installed the new President, Alison Carty, who firstly thanked Carmencita for her leadership during the past year. She urged members to incorporate the spirit of friendship in meetings saying that the first objective is to each other and by working together the members will have more fun and achieve more. She spoke of Programme Action as being the backbone of Soroptimism and the need to focus on the projects in the community.
Past President Carmencita presented a bouquet of flowers to the Patron and to past Executive Committee members. Diane Sheehan presented flowers to Carmencita.

The new Executive Committee comprises Alison Carty (President), Stella Horsford (President Elect), Blondell Rodgiers (Vice President), Carmencita Davis (Immediate Past President), Diane Sheehan (Secretary), Raheema Sharma (Treasurer), Stella Horsford (Programme Action) and members Olive Hodge, Cossilda O’Loughlin, Josephine Gumbs and Patricia Gumbs.
